The skinny on MGD 64

So i'm cutting back on the amount of beer i drink so i can fit back into that speedo for the end of summer. So i started thinking about lite beers the market these days and one in particular; the MGD 64.

So the angle here is that this beer is only 64 calories. Sounds great. When the taste of beer doesnt matter(like football season)...then why not?! Right?...Wrong.

- Michelob Ultra has 95 calories and an alcohol content of 4.1 %
- MGD 64 has 64 calories and an alcohol content of 2.8%

If you're doing the math at home, that roughly comes up to third less of the calories AND alcohol content. I'm going to assume a third less flavor as well...and we're talking crap beer here. I thought this was the beer that they sold in grocery stores out west...near beer. So next time you're thinking you may want to give the MGD 64 a try, here's a recipe for you:

- 8oz of Michelob Ultra
- 4oz of H20 (chilled)

Combine Michelob Ultra and water. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Save a flush, go in the shower!

Here's a public service ad from Brazil suggesting that to save water, we should go in the shower. I never knew i was so progressive in this arena of environmentalism...

4castle!!!

We did it!!! (Hope these pics translate to facebook)

51 hours later...

So today is smoke free day number 3. I feel like it's a pretty big hump. I have tootsie pops, pistachios, m&m's(recently demolished), and some Cool Citrus Trident. I could put one some serious weight in the coming days. Mainly i just want something to keep me occupied, so sugar-free gum is probably the way to go. Too bad, suckers and chocolate are much better tasting.

This morning has been the most stressful, but I'm committed to the not smoking thing. I don't want to do the nicotine gum. It seems like that would only draw out the quitting process. Why not go through a few days(weeks?!!?) of hell and just get it over with.

It really hasn't been too bad. Anxiety has been relatively low. The congestion is coming. Maybe i'll take a sick day on Friday and go for a hike or something.

Thanks for reading. Mainly I wanted to blog to get a break from work. I've gotten some really great encouragement from family and friends. Well Mom has been more like "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" but that works too. My goal for mom's birthday is to give her a month of me being smoke free. I think she would like that. She just found out that her brother and cousin's husband both potentially have lung cancer. We'll find out more after some tests. There's reason to quit.

OK, back to work.

Old Joe

Well, Old Joe, he moves slow
He likes to look at things and paint pictures on his radio
He says they make the songs look better.

One day, Joe met a girl
Sweet breathing thing
Dancin' naked, nudey, in the winter snow
Underneath her dozen sweaters

And someday, somewhere
Some things get hit by lighting
And some things just don't
Hope we live long and lucky

At least one things for sure
Or maybe it isn't.
No matter where we are
It's this life that we're livin' in

At least one things for sure
Or maybe it isn't.
No matter where we are
It's this life that we're livin' in

And someday, somewhere
Some things get hit by lighting
And some things just don't
Hope we live long and lucky
